In Normandy, at the top of the Cotentin peninsula, Cherbourg is a very nice destination for weekend breaks and holidays.

The five ports of Cherbourg (marina, fishing, trade, cruises and military) are sheltered by the largest artificial harbor in the world, with six miles of dike. Visitors can enjoy as well, the time of a short break or during the holidays, of many sports and / or water activities available on site.

Cherbourg is also the gateway to the Cotentin door. A land of moors and groves with beautiful gardens and inhabited the memory of the Vikings. Moreover, the Cotentin, by its preserved land and mild climate, is a popular and preferred destination for nature lovers who will be able to enjoy including hiking, biking, golf, surfing etc...

In 1944, Cherbourg was part of the Battle of Normandy during World War II. It was fought immediately after the successful Allied landings on June 6. American troops isolated and captured the fortified port, which was considered vital to the campaign in Western Europe, in a hard-fought, month-long campaign. Even today, a lot of remnants of this troubled period exist and will rejoice history buffs.
